What is the Lutronic Spectra?
The Spectra Peel aka the Hollywood Laser Peel® is a must-have skin rejuvenation treatment. It’s a gentle version of our other laser treatments. Spectra works by breaking up pigmentation in the skin for natural removal by your body and also works by heating the skin, triggering the production of collagen.
It’s a no-downtime procedure that shows dramatic results with acne, enlarged pores, scars, fine lines, and sun damage. It’s also very effective with correcting uneven skin pigmentation. Spectra is safe on most skin types and can help diminish the signs of aging, damaged skin, and melasma.

This gentle procedure is safe on most skin types and is a great way to get a quick skin refresher without the longer downtime associated with other laser procedures. How does the Spectra Laser work?
Laser energy lightly removes Spectra Lotion, heating dermis and lightly ablating the top layer of dead skin. The laser energy breaks up pigment, that is then carried away by your body, and heats the skin causing the skin to contract while at the same time stimulating the building of collagen.
The laser energy works in two ways, first it gently targets the melanin (pigmentation) in the cells breaking it up for your body’s natural removal processes, and second it heats deep in the dermis causing the skin to contract and stimulate collagen. Because the treatment is gentle, multiple passes are needed in order to obtain optimal results.

What To Expect During Your Treatment?
Our Physician’s Assistant may apply a light layer of Spectra lotion to your skin, this lotion has a carbon base, so your skin will look as if you are wearing a mud mask. They will begin treatment, by applying the laser energy to your skin. You will hear slight snapping sounds when the laser is fired and may feel a slight tingling or warmth. Your PA will make multiple passes over your skin with the laser during each treatment.

The majority of patients report no pain, they only experience a slight warming of their skin and a light prickling feeling. Typically, we apply a topical numbing cream.
